Some third-party Twitter clients, such as Twitterific and Tweetbot, appear to be malfunctioning, but the cause is currently unknown. According to a post on Mastodon by Paul Haddad, one of Tweetbot’s creators, the developer hasn’t received any information from the company on whether the issue is caused by a bug or something else.

However, outages may not be common.Some apps, like Fenix 2 or Albatross, seem to work for me, and others, although I’ve seen other users report issues with Fenix. First-party Twitter apps will still work, too.
The fact that third-party apps rely on Twitter’s API to get data from the service has been controversial in the past, as the company neglected tools for outside developers for a while. That seemed to be improving before Elon Musk bought the company, though his stance on the other Twitter apps was unclear; he didn’t seem to have much to say about them, positive or negative.
