June 2023 will be Earth’s hottest month on record, at least until July 2023. This high temperature can cause many adverse effects, including its impact on iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, and other digital devices. Overheating can shorten the overall lifespan of a lithium-ion battery and increase the likelihood of transient errors and hardware failures — your iPhone will warn you when it becomes overheated due to these issues. Apple recommends using almost all devices at temperatures no higher than 95°F/35°C and storing them at temperatures no higher than 113°F/45°C. (The exception is the adventurous Apple Watch Ultra, which can be worn in temperatures up to 130°F/55°C.) The most common place to avoid is a car parked in the sun on a hot day, where the temperature can drop within an hour It easily exceeds 130°F and rises from there. So don’t leave your iPhone in the car while you spend your afternoon at the beach!
