7 Best Theragun Alternative Massage Guns (2024): Portable, Affordable, Heat Therapy

Lyric Massager on sale for $172: Lyric’s massager is one of our top picks. As of this writing, the brand’s website is down in preparation for the “new Lyric experience,” but that was the case when we last checked in November. Hope it does come back. If you happen to find it in stock, it’s a great massager and looks great too. The small touchscreen explains each of the four attachments and guides you through the guided massage, or you can use it manually. Plus, it has an extension handle that you can click to reach hard-to-reach areas like your back.

Bob and Brad D6 Pro Massage Gun for $250: This massage gun feels very high-end. It’s heavy and has great attachments. I also love that this brand was founded by two physical therapists. But it’s pricey compared to our other favorites, and I find the noise it makes to be very annoying.

Turonic GM5 massage gun on sale for $160: I really enjoy using Turonic. It’s lightweight (much lighter than the LifePro Sonic above) and has one of the lowest strength levels. This is a good thing for those of you who generally think that “low” isn’t low enough for massage guns. Its power is still quite large. It has seven attachments.

Dr Massage Prowlr Massage Gun for $100: Prowlr looks a bit like you put a floor sander on your body. The big head swivels instead of the hammering motion of other guns. It feels more like a traditional friction massage than a device that penetrates deep into muscle knots. The handle is great for gripping and accessing hard-to-reach areas, but the attachment feels cheap. I also wish there was a smaller head to deal with areas like the neck.

Hyperice Hypervolt Plus Bluetooth is available for $229: If you can find a Hypervolt on sale, it’s a good choice and has a Bluetooth connectivity app like the Therabody device. It’s heavy and doesn’t come with a carrying case, although it does have a small case that holds five accessories.

Yunmai’s Slim Elegant (SE) sells for $180: Like the Lyric, Yunmai’s Slime Elegant is our favorite non-Theragun device. It lives up to its name with a soft coating on its attachments and charging dock. However, it is almost impossible to find it on sale.
