Upcoming releases are worth keeping an eye on
If you haven’t watched the trailer for The Kingmaker yet, you should watch it on Rock, Paper, Shotgun. The idea of driving a pickup truck through a group of riders, then hopping out and killing the survivors with a grenade launcher is pretty fun. A very instinctive way of handling full plate armor indeed. Kingmaker puts you in the role of a time traveler trying to fix their future by changing the outcome of several key medieval wars.
You can’t do this alone, so Ancient has city-building elements to improve your base so you can raise more levies to fight with you. During combat, you can also zoom out to tactical view, which will let you direct your armies to attack specific targets, and then you can return to third-person shooting. Combat also looks very impressive, at least on par with Mount & Blade’s gorgeous medieval combat.
If Road to Redemption Games does this well, it could be a lot of fun unloading tons of ammunition on unsuspecting armed men and knights.
