With mobile gaming on its massive growth trajectory, Qualcomm aims to take a beachhead position in the emerging handheld gaming space, launching a new, diverse portfolio of dedicated handheld gaming SoCs and mobile platforms (collectively known as the Snapdragon G Series) and delivering Support is available for mixed reality hardware and even ray tracing.
The G Series consists of G1, G2 and G3, each designed to meet the needs of dedicated gaming devices at different performance levels and form factors, with a focus on power consumption, efficiency, cooling and compatibility with the latest games and streaming media Require. Qualcomm has jointly developed new product series with AyaNeo, Huaqin, Inventec, Thundercomm and other companies. In addition, Qualcomm has also jointly designed handheld gaming reference designs that can be used by OEMs and ODM manufacturers. This will help speed up development and provide customers with more models to choose from.
Starting with the Snapdragon G1 Gen 1, it’s a Qualcomm Kryo (octa-core) CPU paired with an Adreno A11 GPU. The base chipset is suitable for fanless handheld gaming devices, as well as local or cloud gaming with lower resource requirements. Clearly, the G2 Gen 1 occupies the middle spot, upgrading the GPU to an Adreno A21 coupled with a Snapdragon X62 5G (possibly a Snapdragon X65 derivative) modem that supports 5G and Wi-FI 6/6E for always-connected gaming on the go middle.

The G3x Gen 2 offers significant performance improvements over its predecessor, with more than 40% better CPU performance, twice the GPU performance, and support for ray tracing, thanks in part to its Adreno A32 Graphics core. On top of that are 5G sub-6 and mmWave modems, along with Wi-Fi 7 support and Snapdragon Sound high-resolution audio support.
Qualcomm pointed out that its “The Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 handheld gaming reference design is available now and sampling to select OEMs and ODMs.” Product announcements for customers will follow.
