A British woman’s last words as she announced her death from cancer have moved social media.
Daniella T., a human resources (HR) professional from Leeds, England, lets the world know about her life, her battle with illness, and her lifestyle through her posts on LinkedIn.
“If you are reading this, this means that I have passed away from my battle with cancer and my family is delivering my final messages on my behalf,” she wrote.
“First of all, I just want to say that not all cancers are caused by lifestyle choices, in some cases it’s genetic, or unfortunately it just happens.”
Daniela has cholangiocarcinoma, a rare but aggressive cancer caused by changes in DNA in the bile duct system. By the time some patients discover the disease, it is too late, and successful treatment is unlikely.
But she’s never been one to make this a fulfilling life for her.
“While we can’t control what happens to us, we can control our reactions. As much as I grieve, I choose not to mourn the life I lost but to enjoy every moment I have left,” said Daniela .
“Everything I’ve accomplished has been everything I wanted. I love my job, my fiancé, my family, my friends and my dog, as well as the house we’re buying and the future we’ve created for ourselves,” Daniela wrote.
She concluded by thanking everyone she crossed paths with for the positive impact they had on her life and quoting Winnie the Pooh.
“If one day we are not together, there is one thing you must always remember. You are braver than you think, stronger than you look, and smarter than you think. But most importantly, even if we are apart… …I will always be with you!”
