in the eternal pursuit doom Pretty much everything is playable, and now you can play Doom on…the lawn?
There are indeed a lot of ridiculous ways to play Doom. Classics include things like refrigerators and calculators, but there are also more obscure ones like note-taking app Notepad, Lego bricks and, given the current state of social media site Twitter, probably the worst of all. But as power garden tool maker Husqvarna revealed earlier this week, a strange new way to play Doom is coming, and that’s through the company’s Automower Nera series of lawn mowers. “Get ready to rip, shear, mow and rip, the Doom Slayer is back!” reads the description of the Lawnmower update trailer.
“This April, we’re commemorating 30 years of slaying monsters with the legendary game on our robotic lawnmowers. This update applies to the Husqvarna Automower Nera product line.” According to the Husqvarna website, “DOOM x The Husqvarna Robotic Lawn Mower received an amazing response at the 2023 DreamHack Winter Gaming event, and the decision was made to release it to product owners.” It’s worth noting that this is only temporary, as the update will only be available from April 9-September Available during the 9th. So if you’re one of the few people who owns one of these lawnmowers and would actually want to play Doom on it, make sure to do so as soon as the update is released.

If you’re wondering how to play the game on your lawn, the site explains, “Players navigate the game by turning left and right using the robotic lawnmower’s control knob. Pressing the start button will cause you to run forward. To fire, the player Press the control knob.” Meaning, no, the robot mower won’t mow your lawn to look like the doomsday level you then play, you just play it on a regular screen. Hehe, there is something! In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait for the latest weird Doom gameplay twist.
