While excitement over the Stanley Cup may be waning, one woman is hoping to make some extra money by renting out her cup for “selfies.”
In early 2024, the Stanley Cup became the hottest piece of paraphernalia, with buyers flocking to stores hoping to get their hands on one.
Target was eventually forced to impose purchasing limits in an attempt to control the crowds that gathered outside to grab one of its popular cups. However, that didn’t stop them from selling out quickly – leaving some eager buyers empty-handed.

To capitalize on the hype and take advantage of the cups selling out, one woman is now renting out her pink Stanley cup for selfies. Neat, who goes by “e4stsidem4rios” on TikTok, took to the social media app to share the unusual listing he found on Facebook Marketplace. TikTok went viral after asking viewers for this bizarre list.
“Can anyone tell me why someone is selling selfies on Facebook holding a pink Starbucks Stanley cup?” Nite asked, snapping a photo of the listing’s description. “I have a pink Starbucks Stanley cup that I can use for photos,” the hopeful advertiser writes in the ad. “It’s $5 for a selfie and we can meet at Chinook Mall during the day.”

The seller went on to say that anyone interested just needs to send her a private message to arrange a time, adding that she’s “booked all afternoon on Wednesday.” But while viewers were confused by the listing, this isn’t the first time the Stanley Cup has been rented out for photo ops, nor is it the most expensive, according to some commenters.
“I saw a guy in my city selling [pictures with] Their Starbucks x Stanley [sic] $15,” one person wrote. This photo of the iconic pink cup had previously sold for more than $150 during the height of the craze, with some cups even resold for more than $300.

“Late capitalism is [going to] Kill us all. “Some people lamented. However, others questioned the authenticity of sellers being fully booked; “The fully booked part is a sales tactic to make it look like people are paying… but they are not. “
