After experiencing the Tecno Camon 30 Premier 5G, we turned our attention to its two siblings – Camon 30 and Camon 30 5G. The Premier is definitely the premium model, but these two aren’t that different. They also share a design language and some features.
Transsion Camon 30 5G
Tecno Camon 30 5G is powered by Dimensity 7020 chipset. This is a 6nm part based on the Dimensity 930, with two Cortex-A78 cores at 2.2GHz and six A55 cores at 2.0GHz. It features a PowerVR IMG B-series GPU and a 5G modem (sub-6GHz).
While not as powerful as the Dimensity 8200 Ultra in Premier, it at least offers next-generation connectivity.
The front of the phone features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1,080 x 2,436 pixels (but not an LTPO panel). There’s a 50MP selfie camera inside with autofocus and even a dual-color temperature flash.
Flipping the back, we can see the same chamfered area near the circular camera island – a design feature of the Camon 30 series. And it’s also ergonomically designed, being a natural place to place your fingers when you hold the phone horizontally.
The main camera on the back also features a 50MP 1/1.57″ sensor. This module also has OIS, which helps with night portraits. However, there is no ultra-wide-angle lens and certainly no telephoto lens.
Technocamon 30
The Tecno Camon 30 is a 4G model powered by the Helio G99 chipset. Tecno has equipped it with 12GB of RAM (and 12GB of virtual memory), although this is not a high-performance device. The 6nm chipset features two Cortex-A76 cores (2.2GHz) and six A55 cores (2.0GHz), along with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU and a 4G modem.
The Tecno Camon 30 shares the same design as its two siblings, and you can opt for a vegan leather back (the other option is a glass back). Regardless, these are good-looking phones.
The camera setup is similar to the 5G, with a 50MP primary camera on the back (with OIS) and a 50MP selfie camera on the front (with AF and flash). The display uses the same 6.78-inch 120Hz AMOLED panel with the same FHD+ resolution.
Both the Camon 30 5G and 4G models have the same 5,000mAh battery as the Pro, with 70W charging power. They also have the same Dolby Atmos stereo speakers (with grilles on the top and bottom) and top IR blasters.
This is just a preview of the upcoming Tecno Camon 30 series – the Premier is scheduled to launch in the second quarter (April-June) and its siblings should be available around the same time.
