Xiaomi launched HyperOS late last year, but only in the Chinese market. While the interface is touted as a new design, it doesn’t look visually different from MIUI 14, with Xiaomi instead focusing on under-the-hood changes and system optimizations.
As I discovered while using the Mi 14, these changes have a big impact on the smoothness of the interface, so while you don’t get a new visual design, Xiaomi’s UI finally feels smooth and fast – something it never felt before No. Take MIUI 14 as an example. In addition to the global launch of the Mi 14 and the launch of the Mi 14 Ultra, the brand also detailed the global availability of HyperOS and shared when its older devices will switch to the new interface.
HyperOS comes out of the box on the Xiaomi Mi 14 series, so for anyone buying Xiaomi’s 2024 flagship, you’ll already have the latest version once it becomes available in early March. The interface will be coming to the Mi 13 series and earlier models in the coming months, and Xiaomi has shared a list of all eligible devices.

Xiaomi hasn’t mentioned when its devices will get the update, only that the rollout will begin in the first half of 2024, so it expects to have Android 14-based HyperOS available on its phones by the end of June. Most Chinese brands do a good job with software updates these days, but Xiaomi continues to waste no time rolling out platform updates – almost as if the brand is doing its users a favor by releasing these updates.
While POCO isn’t listed on the schedule, the POCO X6 Pro comes with HyperOS installed out of the box, which makes it even more attractive. Anyway, I will share more details when I start getting the HyperOS update on my Xiaomi phones, and if you want to know how the new interface performs in day-to-day use, I recommend you check out my Xiaomi Mi 14 review.
