Parts of Pickens County are about to regain full internet connectivity

PICKENS COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – There is encouraging news out of Pickens County today. Company leaders at Vyve (Vie) Broadband say they hope everyone will have full internet connectivity by tomorrow morning at the latest.

The new development comes a day after a fire destroyed a substation between Carrollton and Reform, disrupting service at Carrollton City Hall, Pickens College and Bayville State Community College, among other places. Carrollton Mayor Mickey Walker thanked Vyve for its tireless efforts to restore service.

“They’ve been on site bringing temporary items in and we’re grateful they’re doing that because we depend on that. Everyone’s been trying to call town hall and you know they’re trying to contact our police department but the phone just isn’t getting through , we have applied for the grant but we have not received an email yet and our deadline is up,” said Carrollton Mayor Mickey Walker.

Company officials said they did not know the cause of the fire but were confident it was not intentional.
