Tecno launched a variety of mobile products at MWC 2024 in Barcelona – the Pova 6 Pro smartphone, a Windows handheld game console with XR glasses, multiple laptops, and even a robot dog.
Now that the hype surrounding the product has died down, let’s talk about Tecno’s other big announcement – the AI capabilities HiOS devices are about to get. The new phone will have smart features already seen in other devices, such as real-time translation and object erasure.

Siri, Bixby, Alexa, Cortana and Celia are all names for assistants, some smarter than others. Tecno decided to choose Ella, its “all-round personal assistant”. It will be able to schedule meetings and provide news and other automated features, such as asking questions that can be searched on Google, but more importantly, Ella will be able to generate images.

Call translation and social media translation should make content easier for Tecno users to understand, and there will also be video subtitles. Tecno revealed that photos can be enhanced using generative AI, and the engine is also capable of creating portraits.
One interesting feature noted by Tecno is that the AI will adapt to images from different regions – Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas. Last summer, the company launched a smart feature that “smartly” adapts to the lighting of faces in photos; Tecno clearly isn’t playing favorites and is working to adapt to its presence in nearly every market.

You can edit photos to remove strangers from the background, and the phone can also add cutouts or stickers to images. This is already a phenomenon across many other platforms and mobile operating systems, so it’s good that Tecno is joining in the fun.
