Report says new iPad and MacBook Air will be available this week

Apple plans to launch a ton of new products soon, but don’t expect it to happen at a dedicated event.

According to MacRumors, citing people familiar with the matter, the company will launch new iPad Pro, iPad Air and MacBook Air models this week, as well as several new accessories.

In particular, we should see two new iPad Pro models with M3 chips and OLED displays. There will be cosmetic changes, too: the new iPad Pro should be thinner and feature a landscape-facing front-facing camera (our biggest gripe with the last model), a redesigned camera bump on the back, and – maybe – MagSafe wireless charging.

According to reports, Apple will also launch two new iPad Air models equipped with M2 chips. One of them will have a 12.9-inch display, a first for the iPad Air.

The iPad will also introduce new accessories, including a new Apple Pencil, a new Magic Keyboard redesigned for iPad Pro, a larger trackpad and a body made partially from aluminum.

According to reports, Apple also plans to launch new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Airs with built-in M3 chips that support Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.

MacRumors’ sources don’t seem too sure about this, but we may also get new color options for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. Finally, we should see new color options for Apple Watch bands and iPhone cases.

All of this lines up with a recent report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who said new Macs, iPads and accessories will be available “in the coming weeks.” Like MacRumors, Gurman also claimed that Apple will not hold a launch event for these products. Instead, the company may simply announce new products on its website, accompanied by a series of online videos and marketing campaigns.

March is usually when Apple unveils new iPads, but the company doesn’t usually hold a dedicated event. If these reports are true, this is still a pretty big launch for the company, with both the entry-level MacBook and iPad sporting new chips, and the iPad Pro getting a pretty complete overhaul that includes the long-rumored OLED display .
