Last July, when we saw Crucial’s first PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSD product T700, we found that it was indeed unique. Other manufacturers have since brought their own Gen5 SSDs to market, with the T700 now boasting performance levels of up to 12,400 MB/s (the Corsair MP700 PRO is one example).
But Crucial doesn’t want to give up the crown. Their new T705 promises the highest sequence numbers yet, with specified read speeds of up to 14,500 MB/s and write speeds of up to 12,700 MB/s. It’s really impressive, and we were lucky enough to get a 2TB sample to review. Let’s put it on a Gen5-enabled test platform and see what happens.
