ESR has launched a new Qi2 magnetic accessory, although the first Qi2 Android phone isn’t out yet. While most of us are waiting for the Google Pixel 9, hoping and praying that it will debut with Qi2, even though the Samsung Galaxy S24 does not, the first wave of Qi2 gadgets are already starting to arrive, and these accessories from ESR are very promising.
This isn’t the only Qi2 accessory you can buy right now. Anker, iOttie, Baseus and other brands have released updated versions of wireless chargers equipped with the latest wireless charging standards. Since Qi2 is based on MagSafe technology, we can finally use the same wireless charging technology on iOS and Android phones.
Why should you care about Qi2? That’s because this magnetic wireless charging standard solves one of the biggest problems with wireless charging. You don’t have to worry about aligning your phone with the coil in the charger. Magnets inside a Qi2 phone or a magnetic ring that sticks to the back of an Android phone stick to the Qi2 wireless charger, ensuring it’s perfectly aligned and won’t move.
Currently, the only way you can use ESR’s new HaloLock Qi2 magnetic wireless car charger with an Android phone is to get the MagSafe adapter for Android. These are fairly cheap and easy to use. Of course, things will get a lot easier once phones start supporting Qi2.
Even if you don’t currently have a Qi2-compatible smartphone, it makes sense to invest in a tool like the ESR HaloLock Qi2 Magnetic Wireless Car Charger. You can make wireless car charging more convenient with sticky metal rings.
Best of all, all wireless car chargers for Android have mounting arms to secure the device. This makes them bulky and impossible to adjust with one hand while driving. Magnetic car chargers like the 15W ESR HaloLock Qi2 Magnetic Wireless Car Charger change everything, allowing you to easily mount your phone.
Stability is a concern when it comes to wireless car chargers and stands, but the ESR HaloLock Qi2 Car Charger is surprisingly stable while driving. My testing found it to be much more stable than a traditional car mount, thanks to its clever design.
The ESR includes a one-meter USB-C cable in the box, along with an AC vent clip and an adhesive car mount. I highly recommend sticking with the AC vent clamp as it has a tiny stabilizing arm on the bottom that makes it fully adjustable. You can see it in action in the picture below.
Thanks to this extra little arm, the ESR HaloLock Qi2 Magnetic Wireless Car Charger doesn’t move while driving. I live in a small mountainous town with potholed roads. No matter how tough the situation gets, my Android phone never falls off the Qi2 car charger. This is a little mind-boggling because you can still rotate the phone when it’s mounted on an air conditioning vent. That means no matter what angle you set your phone at, it will stay put!
Using navigation apps like Google Maps or Waze is much easier than usual because there’s no shaking or shaking. Stabilizing arms are a simple yet effective way to eliminate the annoying motion of shaking cell phones in the car.
I also really appreciate the dash mount that comes in the box, even though it’s a very small one with 3M adhesive. This means you can’t remove and re-stick the mount after first use, but then again, I highly doubt anyone will use it when a better alternative exists.
ESR gets everything right with the HaloLock Qi2 Magnetic Wireless Car Charger. In addition to an ultra-compact, versatile and stable design, you also get a great price. You can buy a Qi2 car charger for the low price of $35.99. In my opinion this is a great deal. If you decide to cash out, you’ll be better prepared for the future.
Even if you don’t have a MagSafe iPhone or Qi2 Android phone, it doesn’t matter. Before the first Qi2 Android phones came out, a cheap $10 magnetic ring could help you take advantage of cool Qi2 accessories like the ESR HaloLock car charger. It’s an excellent driving companion and I don’t think I’ll ever go back after experiencing it.
