Yesterday, the Google Play Store was temporarily closed for some users, preventing them from browsing or downloading apps. This also happened during the Facebook and Instagram outage. Now, Google has revealed what happened.
A company spokesperson issued a statement on the technical issues Android Authority:
We noticed a spike in traffic starting around 7:25 AM Pacific Time on March 5, so we scaled the system to handle the additional load.
One source also told us that after Meta itself experienced an outage, the company saw an increase in the number of people visiting Google, causing traffic to exceed normal levels. The source insisted that only a small number of users were affected and there was no evidence that the technical issues were caused by a cyberattack.
