Comcast Submit

As the demand for data from connected homes in Whatcom County continues to increase, Xfinity is ensuring customers can stream, surf and share on networks and services they can trust now and in the future. More than 37,000 Xfinity Internet customers in Whatcom County who subscribe to value-focused products (Connect, Connect More, Fast and Prepaid) can get faster speeds at no additional cost starting this week.

“For the second time in about a year and a half, we are increasing the speeds of our Xfinity Internet plans in Washington. This is consistent with our nearly 20-year history of continuously increasing Internet speeds.” Senior Vice President, Comcast Pacific Northwest Region Rodrigo Lopez explains. “People are using the internet more than ever before, watching live sports online, playing video games, and using other data-hungry applications. Also, since funding for the Affordable Connectivity Plan may not be renewed, we’re really focused on getting our faster internet, especially on our more affordable plans so that all of our customers can enjoy these new features.”

Starting today, new and existing customers in Whatcom County can enjoy the following speed increases:

  • connect:75 Mbps to 150 Mbps
  • Connect more:200 Mbps to 300 Mbps
  • quickly:400 Mbps to 500 Mbps
  • Xfinity Prepaid:50 Mbps to 200 Mbps

Washington State Values More Than Fast

The speed improvements launched today are powered by Comcast’s fiber-optic network, which is designed to deliver a superior internet experience everywhere to more than 2.8 million homes and businesses in Washington. Speed is an important feature of a comprehensive connectivity experience, while combining a strong network with advanced hardware and software delivers incredible benefits to consumers:

  • 99.99% reliability – Fast internet speeds won’t help if you don’t have a reliable broadband connection. Xfinity has 99.99% reliability, and the Xfinity network uses artificial intelligence to solve problems before they affect their homes, keeping customers connected.
  • cyber security – xFi Advanced Security, available free to customers leasing an Xfinity gateway, protects connected devices from malware and other threats at the gateway before they reach connected home devices. Since launching xFi Advanced Security, Xfinity has blocked more than 10 billion cybersecurity threats.
  • Next generation WiFi – Next-generation Xfinity gateways provide advanced WiFi capacity to power hundreds of devices in the home and more than 1 billion devices per year on the Comcast network.
    • Later this year, Comcast will launch its newest gateway, the XB10, the first to feature unified DOCSIS 4.0, WiFi 7 and AI technology. The XB10 will be able to deliver symmetrical multi-gigabit speeds and connect up to 300 devices over WiFi.
    • WiFi Boost Pod works with Xfinity gateways to extend WiFi coverage to hard-to-reach areas of your home. The newest WiFi extender, Storm-Ready WiFi, is Xfinity’s most powerful device yet, helping to maintain a strong connection even when the power goes out. Keep Washington customers connected

The federal government recently announced that the Affordable Connectivity Initiative could end as early as April if additional funding is not secured. The speed boosts introduced today will help ensure those who may be affected by the end of ACP will continue to have access to fast, affordable, reliable internet options.

  • Xfinity Promotional Offers – Existing Xfinity customers or ACP participants who are new to Xfinity customers can take advantage of current promotional offers. Customers are encouraged to call 1-800-Xfinity to learn more about offers that may be available in their area. If a customer can no longer afford their current service level without the $30 ACP benefit, the team is ready to work with customers to move them to a plan that fits their budget and connectivity needs.
  • Internet Essentials – Xfinity customers benefiting from ACP are automatically eligible to sign up for Internet Essentials for as low as $9.95 per month or Internet Essentials Plus for $29.95 per month, which offers twice the speeds of traditional Internet Essentials. Both services offer fast and reliable home internet with no credit check or cancellation fees and come with the device.
