long story short
- Verizon has announced Second Number, which allows customers to add a second number to their phone.
- The service is available to all Verizon postpaid customers with dual-SIM devices.
- Second Number is priced at $10 per month (plus fees) before June 5th, or $15 per month (plus fees) if you sign up after June 5th.
While this isn’t the case for everyone, a significant number of people rely on a second phone number. The reasons range from keeping work and personal life separate to having one number instead of a landline. While this typically results in the need for a second phone, Verizon is launching a plan to keep your phone number on one device.
Today, Verizon announced a plan called Second Number. This new plan will allow customers to add a second phone number to their phone.
Verizon said that with Second Number, its customers will be able to switch between numbers on their phone and messaging apps. When you receive a call or text message, you will be told which line is receiving the call or text message. When you reply, the reply is sent from the line that received the call or message.
The service is available to all Verizon postpaid customers starting today. However, you need to have a dual-SIM device to take advantage of this plan. The carrier adds that your second number will be ported whenever you choose to upgrade your phone.
If a “second number” sounds useful, Verizon is offering a limited-time deal for $10 per month (plus fees) to early signups. However, after June 5, the price for new registrations will increase to $15 per month (plus fees).
It’s important to note that unlocked phones can add a second number on a single device from any network via eSIM or prepaid plans. But if you have a Verizon-locked phone, or you just want the convenience of one bill, Verizon’s solution can be helpful.
