If your AirPods are not nearby, the Find feature won’t work. However, Find should still have the last known location of your AirPods. You can use Routes to navigate to where your AirPods were last detected using Apple Maps, then track them when you’re nearby.

1. Open find my application and click equipment Label.
2. Choose your AirPods.
3. If you’re too far away from your AirPods, instead Look for button and you will see a route button.
4. Click route button and Apple Maps will open, giving you directions from your current location to the last known location of your AirPods.
5. Follow the instructions and when you get to the location, try one of the methods above to track your AirPods.

How to put AirPods into lost mode

If you can’t find your AirPods at all, you can put them into lost mode. This feature won’t work if you own first- or second-generation AirPods, but it works on all other models.
