Jaya on Anxiety Disorders
In this episode, Jaya Bachchan shares how the internet provides a sense of validation to the younger generation. When this increases stress, it can lead to anxiety attacks.
She said: “You don’t think you’re stressed, but you are. We didn’t hear about anxiety disorders when we were kids. Don’t talk about our childhoods, and we never heard about it in middle age. Where did this come from? It’s because you’re constantly getting messages. It’s from, “What does this girl look like?” How does she do her nails and makeup? “That’s where the anxiety comes from. There’s just too much information.”
Shweta responded by saying that she disagreed with her point of view and said that the anxiety has always been there but has become more pronounced now.
About online shopping
In the same episode, Jaya also talked about how she tried shopping online. She later added that she was extremely unhappy with the product when it was delivered. She added that “technological advances” are good for everyone involved. Shweta doesn’t think so and says she buys everything from clothes to cosmetics online because she doesn’t want to stand in queues. Jaya immediately joked: “I never have to queue.”
Our artificial intelligence
Jaya also shared her thoughts on artificial intelligence. “That’s what technology does,” she said. “Technology takes you up, but ultimately it doesn’t become human. It creates a ripple effect, and then people say, ‘This is not good. Let’s go back to the way things were.'”
