Actor Jaya Bachchan Don’t like the Internet, She shares her thoughts on internet culture in the latest issue of Granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda’s Podcast What The Hell Navya. The episode had them discussing the pros and cons of the internet, with Jaya saying that the root cause of anxiety attacks in young people is that they get too much information online.
Jaya said young people are under constant pressure to answer calls, respond to messages on their mobile devices and seek validation from the internet. “Navya, your generation is about ‘answer the phone quickly, reply to the text quickly.’ You get validation from what you see on the internet and on your phone. ‘Do we look good? Do we think right?’ If you That’s right? All of these things can increase your stress levels,” she said.
When Naya asked if older generations were less stressed because they didn’t have to deal with the internet, Jaya confidently said, “Of course.” When Naya said she didn’t feel stressed, Jaya told her, “You don’t think you have Stressful, but you do have stress.” She continued, “When we were kids, we didn’t hear about anxiety attacks. Not even in our childhoods, not even in our middle years. Where did this come from? Coming in? It’s because you’re constantly getting messages. It’s from, “What does this girl look like?” “How are her nails, her makeup? That’s where the anxiety comes in. Too much information.”

Navya’s mother Shweta Bachchan also participated in the conversation but she did not agree with Jaya’s views. “The anxiety has always been there. It’s easier to identify now. It’s talked about more,” she said. In fact, she told Jaya, “Even if you say I feel anxious. It’s just being talked about more, with more of a voice.”
