Sea of Thieves’ next update brings anti-cheat, single-player “safer oceans” changes, and more

Rare may have just recently released a major update sea of thievesbut there is another method under development that adds some important improvements.

One of the most common problems in all online multiplayer games is cheating. It’s a pain, no one likes it but the cheaters themselves, and it just makes for a worse experience – so Rare is introducing anti-cheat features in Sea of Thieves to help reduce the problem for cheaters . In a recent Sea of Thieves news video, Rare said it will be adding Epic’s kernel-level Easy Anti-Cheat solution, which is also used in games like Apex Legends and Fortnite, and plans to add this next week (Thursday) Function. March 14th. Hopefully from now on you’ll quickly get used to regular pirate behavior, like killing opposing players in a fair duel.

There’s also some good news for those of you playing on your own. In addition to the update introducing anti-cheat features, individual Xbox players will not need to subscribe to Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate to enter the game’s Safer Seas mode. For those of you who haven’t heard of Safe Seas mode, it’s essentially a private server where you can only play with friends, meaning you won’t encounter other players online. For those who just want a quieter pirate experience, this is a great addition introduced last year.

If you do play with friends (or enemies for some reason), you’ll still need some sort of Game Pass subscription, even in Safer Waters. Thankfully, those planning to try the game when it launches on PS5 on April 30 don’t need a PlayStation Plus subscription if you plan to play the game solo on Safer Seas.

The full video also introduces a range of new products such as cosmetics and emoticons, so check it out if you want to see what you might be receiving next week. It also previews the game’s anniversary celebrations, as it turns six on March 20th – so there’s plenty to look forward to.
