You may not have heard the name Deviation Games before, but to give you a quick refresher, the studio was founded by former Call of Duty heads Dave Anthony and Jason Blundell. Established in 2020. The studio was revealed in 2021, with PlayStation providing financial support to the studio to develop new AAA IP. Unfortunately, the studio has now closed, GamesIndustry.biz reports. “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of Deviation Games,” chief human resources and operations officer Kriste Stull shared on LinkedIn.

It is worth noting that in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz in 2021, Anthony said about working with PlayStation: “It’s absolutely exciting. No reason for the studio closure was given, but PlayStation did recently announce that it would be cutting 900 jobs and closing its London studio entirely. The closure of Deviation Games is just the latest in a series of closures and layoffs, with EA recently laying off 5% of its workforce.
