long story short
- Qualcomm has announced the release date of its next “flagship” processor.
- This could be the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 that was leaked last month.
- The naming scheme hints at the performance ranking of this SoC compared to other chipsets in the series.
Qualcomm, the world’s leading chipmaker, announced on Chinese social media platform Weibo that it will launch its next-generation flagship Snapdragon SoC.
Based on recent rumors, we believe the company may be gearing up to launch the new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 that was leaked last month. If the news is true, the chipset will join the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 at the top of the Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC list.
Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 rumored specs
The naming scheme of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 suggests that it will sit below the Galaxy’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and sit above the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 that preceded it. We have Qualcomm to thank for this confusing alphabet soup.
Leaks last month suggested the new processor could feature a Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.01GHz, four Cortex-A720 performance cores clocked at 2.61GHz, and three Cortex-A520 cores clocked at 1.84GHz Efficient core. The SoC may also come with Adreno 735 SoC.
Additionally, if the English translation of the Weibo post is to be believed, Qualcomm may be hinting that the next generation of chipsets will focus on artificial intelligence.
