Realme 12+ first impressions – GSMArena.com News

The Realme 12 series now includes four smartphones – Realme 12, Realme 12+, Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro+, and we have reviewed the Realme 12 Pro+. Now that we’ve got our hands on the Realme 12+, let’s do a quick unboxing and see what this smartphone is all about.

Like other smartphones in the series, the Realme 12+ comes in a yellow retail packaging. Includes protective case, 67W power adapter, charging cable and SIM card ejection tool.

Realme 12+ uses a 6.67-inch 120Hz FullHD+ E4 AMOLED flat screen that is HDR10+ certified. It can display 16.7 million colors and has 100% P3 color gamut. The panel has a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, which is said to be as low as 2 nits. The display also uses Rainwater Smart Touch technology, which uses the screen’s scanning data to determine whether the screen or hands on the screen are wet to avoid accidental Touch action to improve touch accuracy.

The AMOLED screen also features a center punch-hole for the 16MP selfie camera with f/2.45 aperture and 82.6° FOV. It uses a 1/3″ sensor.

Additionally, the Realme 12+ has a fingerprint scanner under the display with a claimed unlocking speed of 0.55 seconds. In our short time using the smartphone, we found it to be fast and accurate. However, we wish the fingerprint scanner was placed a little higher for easier reach and a more comfortable unlocking experience.

Flip the Realme 12+ over and you’ll see a similar design to the Realme 12 Pro series. At first glance, you might not even be able to tell the three phones apart, as the Realme 12+ also comes with a 3D Jubilee band that spans the back panel and is interrupted by a circular camera island.

The case also features dust-resistant vegan leather, which not only prevents fingerprint smudges and provides a good grip, but also makes the phone feel comfortable while giving it a premium look.

Back in the camera island, we have an LED flash and three cameras – a 50MP main camera (Sony LYT-600, OIS), an 8MP ultra-wide-angle (112°) and a 2MP macro camera at f/1.88, f/2.2 , and f/2.4 aperture.

Realme 12+ can record 1080p videos at up to 60FPS and 4K videos at 30FPS. It is also equipped with three main camera filters, namely Journey Filter, Memory Filter and Maverick Filter, which are inspired by the movies “Life of Pi”, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and “Top Ambition” respectively. Ling Yun: Maverick”.

The Realme 12+’s camera island adopts the polished sunburst dial pattern found on the Pro model, which creates a good visual effect when light hits it from different angles. It also matches the color of the rear panel, which in our case is green since we received the Pioneer Gree version. Another variant is Navigator Beige.

The difference here, however, is that the Realme 12+’s camera island isn’t surrounded by the gold notched bezels found on the Pro and Pro+, which makes these phones look more premium. However, there is a shiny, reflective gold ring surrounding the camera module.

Another difference is flat design. Unlike the Realme 12 Pro and Pro+, the Realme 12+ features flat bezels and a back cover that makes the phone less comfortable to hold. Rear panel edges like those on the iQOO Neo9 Pro and iQOO 12 have slim curves that would make the Realme 12+ easier to hold, even though its frame is flat, shiny, and prone to smudges.

The right frame of the Realme 12+ houses the volume rockers and power button. At the bottom is the USB-C port, flanked by the speaker grille, main microphone, and dual SIM card slots. At the top is a 3.5mm headphone jack, which connects to the auxiliary microphone.
