Each character has 7 weapons (49 total for all characters), so it’s hard to know when to switch weapons. While you may be tempted to switch to a new weapon when you find one, you’ll want to make sure you’ve unlocked the functionality of your previous weapon before switching.

Each weapon comes with a weapon ability that you can use in combat for the ATB cost. Activate this ability enough times during combat and it will become permanently available no matter what weapon you have equipped. You can check the progress of each ability by navigating to Equipment & Materials in the main menu and observing the meter under each character’s name. If there is a check mark, the character has learned the weapon abilities for the weapon they are equipped with. It’s a good sign that when you find a new weapon, it’s time to change weapons.
Upgrade weapons rebirth Not too similar Equipment materials. While there is a dedicated page for upgrading weapons in the main menu, you can manually equip upgrades for weapons in the Equipment and Materials menu unless you use the auto-upgrade feature in this menu.
