MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Thirty projects across Wisconsin have received $43 million in funding to expand high-speed internet access, the office of Governor Tony Evers announced Monday.
This funding comes from the American Rescue Plan Act and will improve access for 16,000 homes and businesses across the state.
The grant is the latest step by the governor’s office to deploy a broadband infrastructure plan that has worked over the past several years to bring high-speed internet to more Wisconsinites.
“I’m proud that as a result of our efforts over the past few years, more than 410,000 homes and businesses in communities across the state will now be connected to new or improved high-speed internet,” said Governor Evers.
Including Monday’s allocation, BIP has allocated $345 million toward Governor Evers’ Internet goals.
