Isn’t that how it always works? Do you wait for a balance update before sending out the latest guide, then hours after release? Boom, it’s update time.Well, luckily this latest version Marvel Snapshot (Free) Won’t change a lot of what I put in, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some big changes. This time, they’re more than just balance changes for the cards. But there are a lot of them! Let’s take a look, shall we?
We always talk about cards first, so let’s change things up a bit and talk about the new UI features. First, you can now view the graveyard during a match. Click on the avatar where you’d normally find the emoticon, and you’ll now see buttons that say “Destroyed” or “Discarded.” Click on them and you can see which of your cards were destroyed or discarded during the match. You can also click on your opponent’s avatar to view their avatar. convenient!
Another great feature: you can now take back the ending turn if your opponent hasn’t finished their turn yet. Wow, what a lifesaver! I tend to end my rounds a little hastily, and I often regret wishing I had this feature. There’s also a new custom borders feature that allows you to mix and match your favorite elements on cards to make them look just the way you want. Finally, if you want to exchange more real money for gold, you can also use the new Gold Pass. Thirty days worth! I have no idea. Someone will buy it.
Since this update, some cards have new visual and audio elements. Deadpool, Legion, Moongirl, Psylocke, and Blackhawk now look and sound even better. To round out aspects that don’t involve modifying cards, some locations have been made rarer, some wording in locations has been changed to make things more consistent, and a bunch of bugs have been fixed. Okay, let’s start looking at the cards.
buff priority! Elsa Bloodstone is back to her best. Her abilities have been restored and she can now attack all locations, not just the ones she played in. To compensate, her stats were changed from 2-Cost 3-Power to 3-Cost 3-Power. Mick’s abilities have been refreshed and now whenever you discard a card, he gains +1 power and is able to move to a location of your choice next turn. Simple and clean.
What else is in the buff bag? Cable, I guess? He was kicked out a while ago for being a 2 cost card and I noticed a huge drop in his usage. Well, he’s back now. Cable changed from 3-Cost 4-Power to 2-Cost 3-Power, which means he gained a little Power during this short journey. This is intended to replace Mantis’ role, as her ability no longer draws a card from your opponent’s deck, but instead copies a card played this turn into your hand (if you have one). Mantis is now a 2 cost 2 power card instead of a 2 cost 3 power card.
M’Baku’s utility has been improved a bit, although I can see how it might backfire. Now, instead of jumping to a random location at the end of the match, he’ll jump to the location where you have the least energy (provided it’s not full). I, uh, certainly hope he wouldn’t do that in a place of less power. Yondu’s change is purposeful, but we’ll see how it works out for him. Instead of destroying the top card of your opponent’s deck, he now removes the lowest-cost card in the deck. Um.
In the clear nerf category, we’re making one change to Thanos. The Time Stone used to have a “reveal” ability that allowed you to draw a card and gain +1 power the next turn. Now it draws a card and reduces that card’s cost by 1 point. From a certain perspective, this is still an extra power point, but you can’t freely apply it everywhere. Leeches, on the other hand, get hit hard with the bat. His ability is now “Reveal”, which simply removes the text from the “Reveal” card in the opponent’s hand. His target is more specific now, but you can use him on other turns if you want.
That’s it for this update, but I think that’s enough for this week. It’s probably a good thing that the Mad Titan has been nerfed a bit, and I personally know I won’t miss the leech foiling my plans. I do feel for those who use him regularly, though. Yondu… I don’t think this is a big change for Yondu players, but we’ll see. What do you think of this update? Has your deck changed at all?
