Nicolas Cage may star in live-action Spider-Man Noir

We often forget that Nicolas Cage actually played Spider-Man, but he was easily one of the best parts of the amazing animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. After the cliffhanger ending of “Into the Spider-Verse,” he’s back on the horizon in “Spider-Verse Beyond,” but will he be able to don the suit too? for real In the upcoming Spider-Man Noir live-action series?

The show, co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon (much like the long-running Silk series), last year hired The Punisher’s Steve Lightfoot as co-showrunner, teasing that the powers that be want real dark. The tone of this new live-action wall crawler. Now, Collider’s Steve Weintraub asked Cage at SXSW 2024 about his future as Spider-Man and whether that includes a return to the character outside of animation.

Long story short: There have been conversations, but no decisions have been made. Looking at Silk’s long creative journey, we wouldn’t be surprised if it takes the same route this time. Here’s Cage’s full quote: “Well, I can say we’ve been talking about it. It’s no secret that I love this character. I think this character offers another mashup. I can combine some of my favorite things from the Golden Age The acting, i.e. Robinson, Cagney, Bogart, I guess the role was widely considered [to be] Stan Lee’s masterpiece.I think it’s an attempt at a pop art mashup [Jungian] A mashup of Lichtenstein, Bogart and Cagney, but there’s no confirmation yet. This is just talk. “

As always, the famous actor is not shy and provides colorful answers, but at the moment he doesn’t know any more than we do. However, we have to remember that he recently expressed interest in giving up movies and perhaps trying his luck in television. That, coupled with his love of Spider-Man, would be a perfect fit for a potential gig, so maybe that will happen after all.

As far as we know, both Silk and Spider-Man Noir are being developed as standalone series and won’t be tied into Sony’s ongoing Spider-Man-adjacent universe or Spider-Verse movies. Following the debacle of “Mrs. Weber,” the next films to be released are “Kraven the Hunter” (August 30) and “Venom 3” (October 25).
