Just when we thought food experiments couldn’t get any weirder, an unexpected combination has taken the internet by storm – the ‘bhindi samosa’. Yes, samosas stuffed with Indian dumplings/okra/ladybugs (sadly, that combination doesn’t sound good no matter what we call this vegetable).
The spicy Indian snack samosas usually contain spicy fillings of potatoes, peas and peanuts. While people are used to Chinese, chicken and cheese samosas, not many would think of stuffing them in a samosas. Paneer.
A video shared on Instagram by username “foodi_ish” showing a man serving Indian samosas has sparked debate online. The caption reads: “Samosa toh bhot type ke khaye hai, aap log ne kya kabhi khaya hai Bhindi Samosa? (sic)” (You must have eaten various types of samosas, have you tried Bhindi samosas).
The person who posted it seems to like bhindi samosa, as he wrote, “Taste ki baat ki jaaye toh beautiful tha” which translates to “if we talk about taste, it’s delicious”.
In the video, the man gently crushes the samosas to reveal unexpected Indian fillings. Then he adds green chutney, coriander leaves, lemon juice and finally sprinkles with chillies. So far, the video has received more than 200 comments, with many expressing dissatisfaction.
One user commented “Whyyy” while another wrote: “Wish there was a dislike button on Instagram.”
A third wrote: “Please don’t do this to the samosas.”
“Also trying the lauki (gourd) samosas,” commented a fourth.
Another commented: “When you ask your mum for samosas and there’s leftover roti at home.”
The internet is no stranger to ridiculous food combinations. While users are just recovering from the ‘Barbie Biryani’, it looks like food influencers won’t be taking a backseat anytime soon!
