long story short
- Microsoft is expanding its subscription-based artificial intelligence service Copilot Pro to more people around the world.
- Copilot Pro provides prioritized and enhanced AI services for Microsoft web and mobile applications.
- Copilot services will also be available to more organizations and businesses in the coming weeks.
Microsoft announced the expansion of its artificial intelligence service Copilot Pro to 222 countries. Copilot Pro is available in eight languages, and its expansion opens the door for more users to try Microsoft’s AI services through its popular suite of applications.
A $20 per month Copilot Pro subscription gives users access to Copilot AI features in the free Microsoft 365 web app without the need for a paid Microsoft 365 account. Copilot Pro users will also be able to use Copilot on Microsoft’s free mobile apps for iOS and Android in the coming months, Microsoft explained in an official blog post. The AI service will provide features such as summarizing the body of text in Word, drafting emails in Outlook, and creating PowerPoint presentations with prompts.
Microsoft is even sweetening the deal by offering a free month of Copilot Pro to users who install the company’s Copilot mobile app for iOS or Android.
What benefits do Copilot Pro users get?
The subscription-based version of Copilot offers additional features such as the ability to build and share custom GPTs, higher caps on monthly image generation, and priority access to GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo. Check out the screenshots below for a complete comparison.
It’s important to note that Copilot Pro users will still need to pay for a separate Microsoft 365 subscription to access Copilot functionality in desktop versions of applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Individual subscriptions start at $6.99 per month, and family plan subscriptions start at $9.99 per month for up to 6 users.
In the coming weeks, organizations and businesses will also be able to take advantage of Copilot for Microsoft 365’s AI services. One key difference, however, is that organizations and businesses first need a Microsoft 365 subscription to add the Copilot for Microsoft 365 service, which costs an additional $30 per user per month.
The expansion of Copilot Pro also comes more than a year after ChatGPT Plus was first launched. About a month ago, Google launched its own subscription-based artificial intelligence plan called “Google One AI Premium.”
