You accept the good, you accept the bad
Cooler Master has updated their 34-inch quantum dot monitors this year with the launch of the new GM34-CWQ2 monitor. The display is still a 3440×1440 VA quantum dot display, with the refresh rate increased from 144Hz to 180Hz, and more overdrive modes, including manual mode, which you can use to get the most out of the display. CM removed the ARGB lighting system from the base, which TechPowerUp wasn’t too fond of in the first place. KVM functionality is also retained, and while it does support 65W charging as well as display via UCB-C, there’s no USB-C cable included, although you do get DisplayPort, HDMI, USB-B for KVM, and three power supplies lines to ensure you can power it in many different countries.
Performance is a bit mixed, but on the plus side, Cooler Master cuts the GM34-CWQ2’s input lag in half compared to last year’s model, but the color profiles it comes with aren’t as accurate. When they calibrated the display, the display improved significantly, except for the fact that the static contrast was still lower than previous models. They also don’t like the glossy bottom bezel, but that’s certainly a matter of personal taste and not necessarily a bad change.
