Final Fantasy 7 Reborn’s Aerith Shares Her Thoughts on Gaming’s Longest Transport Battle

The debate over who Cloud ends up with is an age-old story, but the voice actor behind final fantasy 7 reborn Alice has her own take on the debate.

Young Final Fantasy 7 fans, myself included, won’t really remember what the shipping war was like. From what I understand, it was a war zone and people were divided over whether Cloud should be with Aerith or Tifa. None of Final Fantasy 7’s expansions really address this issue, and while Final Fantasy 7 Reborn does have an air of romance permeating it, it’s not particularly conclusive. But what does Briana White, the voice of Alice in “Remastered” and “Rebirth,” think about love triangles?

As discovered by a user on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake subreddit, White was recently interviewed by Dan Allen Gaming, where she was asked about Cloud’s potential love interest, and her response was quite pragmatic. “I get asked this question all the time. Like, who do you ship?” Bai responded. “Honestly, I know some people think this is a cop-out answer, but whoever you think is right…is right! That’s how the game is designed! That’s why you can choose to go on a date with Alice, or With Tifa, or with neither of them.

“There’s a reason for that. Because it’s an RPG. It’s an RPG. So you, Cloud, the character, the player, get to choose who you like best. Both are correct! All correct!”

To be honest, this is the stance I took when leaving Rebirth, as it felt like the most the game hinted at, and gave fans of the series a lot of flexibility in terms of shipping dynamics. This is also a safe answer because I can only imagine the kind of harassment she might get if she chose one side or the other. If we’re being honest, we all know that the only real ships are Cloud and Sephiroth.
