Kamila Wojciechowska said that the Google Pixel 8A may have a 120Hz display (the Pixel 7A has a 90Hz display) and a brighter screen. Her past leaks include pre-release videos of the Pixel Fold.
Google’s I/O 2024 conference is scheduled for May 14, where the company will likely talk a lot about artificial intelligence again. The company may also launch the Pixel 8A here.
write for Android AuthorityWojciechowska said the next entry in the line of budget Pixel phones will have a peak brightness of 1,400 nits, up from the 7A’s 1,000 nits, and limited support for DisplayPort output over USB-C. These may all be improvements over its predecessor, but if this leak is accurate, it won’t follow the 7A’s lead of having a better camera system than the Pixel 8, as it says Google is moving last year’s cameras over to the 8A .
Past leaks have suggested that the Pixel 8A will feature the Pixel 8’s updated rounded corners, a Tensor G3 chip, and that it will continue to be a 6.1-inch phone like the 7A, all of which are confirmed in today’s leak from Wojciechowska. Taken together, all these rumored changes could make the Pixel 8A feel more like a smaller (or, as some would say, right-sized) and cheaper version of the Pixel 8, just with a nice discount.
Google offers fewer AI features for the Pixel 8 compared to the Pixel 8 Pro. Wojciechowska said the Tensor G3 in the new 8A will be slightly thicker and hotter than the G3 powering the Pixel 8, so the big question is how many AI features will be available to owners of cheaper phones.
