If you’ve spent any time on the tech-related internet, you probably know that Apple invented everything and that all Android device makers like Samsung do is copy the Cupertino-based do-it-all company (yes , this is sarcasm, treat it as such).
Today, a disturbing rumor has surfaced—and it’s troubling for those who hold the above beliefs. Apple seems to have taken so much inspiration from Samsung’s anti-reflective Gorilla Glass armor installed on the Galaxy S24 Ultra that it will have one on the 2025 iPhone 17 as well.

Not only that, but its glass is more scratch-resistant than current ceramic shields. The same glass will have an anti-reflective layer, just like glasses (or mechanical watches). Unfortunately, the coated device hasn’t entered Apple’s supply chain in time to be applied to the iPhone 16 series, so we’ll have to wait until next year to see Apple directly copy Samsung’s stuff.
This sounds almost identical to what Samsung uses (Gorilla Glass Armor) – Corning (its manufacturer) claims it reduces reflections by 75% and is more than four times more scratch-resistant than competing solutions.
But even if it were just buying stuff from Corning, Apple would never tell you that. Instead, this will be branded Ceramic Shield Ultimate or something similar to create the illusion that Apple has something incredibly unique — you know, like the original Ceramic Shield, which was made by Corning.” Developed in partnership with Apple, whatever that means.
