- A new Samsung patent has reportedly been discovered detailing Galaxy AI’s more personalized artificial intelligence summarization capabilities.
- Patent users will be able to tell the AI how long or short they want their abstract to be, and what tone it should use.
- Artificial intelligence will respond with information based on the user’s search history, preferences, etc.
Information about new Galaxy AI features that Samsung is currently developing has surfaced.
According to ChosunBiz (Korea), Samsung has submitted a patent to the South Korean government detailing an upgraded AI summary feature (via SamMobile). KIPRIS patent system notes that Samsung designed this feature to provide a more personalized summary experience.
The AI is said to examine the user’s “usage history” to provide appropriate answers. The patent reportedly adds that the AI will take into account the user’s preferences, level of knowledge on various topics, etc. Additionally, AI will learn about a user’s interests and “non-interests” by using their search history.
Users can also customize how the AI provides summaries on a given topic. The publication notes that Samsung aims to let users tell the AI the length and tone they want the summary to be. One example provided by the Korean OEM in its patent is: “Please summarize in a long and negative tone.”
There is speculation that Samsung may launch this new feature on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 later this year. Only time will tell, as this may just be a feature Samsung is testing for gaming but never released to consumers.
What’s interesting about this summary of “enhanced” AI is that Samsung already has a version of this available with Galaxy AI. The Galaxy S24 series can summarize longer texts, such as documents or web pages, for users. However, the patent details a feature that could bring a new level of customization to users.
We’re still waiting for several Galaxy AI features on Samsung’s previous-generation devices, such as the S23 series. The company detailed the plan in January, saying users would get Circle to Search, real-time translation, chat assistance and current summary features. These are expected to be released with the One UI 6.1 update, but the update is not yet available.
If Samsung plans to release this feature in its next clamshell, it could happen in July. Rumors from late February also hinted at this, claiming that Samsung might hold an event in Paris, France.
