From the looks of the very funny and unhinged first trailer, things are about to get even weirder and more unusual. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.Tim Burton returns to direct Michael Keaton as Beetlejuicestarring Winona Ryder as Lydia Dietz and Catherine O’Hara as her stepmother Delia – plus Jenna Ortega Plays Lydia’s daughter Astrid.
After the Dietz family dies, their old friend Beetlejuice reappears, sparking a new series of afterlife orgies. Check out the trailer to see how it all unfolds.
It’s great to see Keaton’s chaotic undead agent back in action, along with Burton’s quirky signature style (stop-motion, yay!) that we’ve been missing. His last feature film was 2019’s Dumboand of course, he also has the hit Netflix series starring Ortega Wednesday 2022.Speaking of which, it’s nice to see Ortega fully integrated into Beetlejuice Beam; I hope her character will go through a similar journey to the one her mother once went through in this new story about an existential crisis after death.
Monica Bellucci, Willem Dafoe, and Justin Theroux round out the cast, and it remains to be seen whether the rest of the Beetlejuice cast will reprise their roles in any way. We’re hoping for at least a cameo from Barbara Maitland (Geena Davis), though maybe she and Adam (Alec Baldwin) have found some unfinished parenting business through Lydia Peace in the afterlife.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Released in theaters on September 6th.
