A source on Weibo said that Apple suppliers have sent iPad Air samples to the United States and that the device may be available in two versions – glossy or matte screen, the accuracy of which remains in question. The same applies to the upcoming iPad Pro.
However, it’s unclear whether the source is referring to a full-blown matte finish or an anti-reflective coating like on the 2019 Pro Display XDR. The texture uses nano-textured glass, which creates an anti-reflective pattern and mitigates the effect of specular reflections. Samsung did something similar with its new Galaxy S24 Ultra, which makes the report quite believable.
The same source published a report on the iPhone 17 series, claiming that the future phones will feature the same anti-reflective technology as the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
It’s too early to say anything about this, but we’d bet the iPad could introduce improved anti-reflective technology that’s coming to the iPhone next year.
