It has just been revealed that Larian will not be involved in the development of any expansion packs for Baldur’s Gate 4 or Baldur’s Gate 3.
This information comes from Larian’s own CEO – Swen Vincke. He hosted a talk at GDC 2024 titled “Secrets of Baldur’s Gate 3,” and after about an hour of development discussions, funny stories, and revelations about work left on the cutting room floor, he ended with this explosive The message ended the speech.

“I told you from the beginning, we are a company full of great ideas,” Vink said. “We are not a company specifically created to create DLCS [or] Extension. We actually tried a few times and failed every time. It’s not worth it. Life is too short and our ambitions are lofty, but like Gustav (the dog’s name during the development of Baldur’s Gate 3), he will always have a warm place in our hearts . ”
He continued, “We’ll always be proud of it, but we’re not going to continue to do it. We’re not going to make the new expansion that everyone expects us to do.
