If you are still a OnePlus 9 series or OnePlus 8T user in the US, you may see a new OTA update bringing the latest Android 14 version to your device.
Android Authority noted that the company has started rolling out the new update for the OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, and OnePlus 8T in the United States. These devices on the T-Mobile network may soon receive the OxygenOS 14 update, as some users have already seen OTA updates.
OnePlus 8T running on T-Mobile receives the new OxygenOS 14 update, according to screenshots shared on Android Authority KB2007_14.0.0.300(EX01) version, while the OnePlus 9 received the LE2117_14.0.0.212 (EX01) firmware update. Both include the Android 14 update (codenamed Android OS U). Additionally, the update brings the January 5, 2024 update along with some general bug fixes.
The OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro will not see the next Android version after the latest Android 14 update, as per a promise made by the company during the launch of the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 9 series. However, security updates may still be available for a few more months.
Android Authority points out that while the latest Android 14 build is currently seen on T-Mobile, the OnePlus 9 series, and the OnePlus 8T, the unlocked versions of these phones have received Android 14-based OxygenOS 14 in previous weeks.
Unlike the current batch, previous OnePlus flagship models were promised limited Android version updates. The OnePlus 11 promised four Android versions and five security updates, while the latest OnePlus 12 also follows the same update cycle as the previous model.
Overall, it’s encouraging to see that OnePlus has delivered on its promise and brought a whole new experience to older OnePlus devices with the latest update rollout.
