Google released the second developer preview of Android 15 this week, which means a ton of new features and changes are being discovered. The big one is support for satellite connectivity, but there are a lot of little-known extras. That said, the Google Pixel Fold borrows a fan-favorite feature from the OnePlus Open, namely “swipe up to continue.”
As Android expert Mishaal Rahman first explained via Android Police , Android 15 DP2 gives Pixel Fold users a new default setting for how their smartphone responds when the cover is closed.Previously, if you closed the Pixel Fold’s home screen, the overlay screen would remain off unless you changed the default setting to always or Only games, videos, etc.. Still, the Pixel Fold doesn’t have the option to selectively choose whether to continue using apps on the cover screen every time.
OnePlus’ idea is to give users the option to swipe up on the cover screen to continue using the app they just opened on the home screen. This allows OnePlus Open users to decide whether to continue using the app based on the situation, rather than being locked into default preferences. Now, Google has followed suit and launched Android 15 Developer Preview 2. Only games, videos, etc. The option in the Pixel Fold Settings app has been replaced with Swipe up to continue switch.

This gives Pixel Fold users three possible default settings Continue using collapsed apps Page. always When you close the Pixel Fold, the front display automatically turns on. no way The Pixel Fold automatically locks every time you close it.
Google describes the new Swipe up to continue Here’s what it says: “Fold your phone and swipe up on the front display to continue using the app, or wait a few seconds to lock the screen.”
The ability to swipe up to continue does not exist in Android 15 Developer Preview 1, and was only added in the second version. Google will reportedly publicly release the feature to all Pixel Fold users alongside Android 15. However, the feature has been confirmed to be available for Pixel Fold devices running Android 15 DP 2.
