Blizzard held a developer update livestream with game director Aaron Keller, who provided new information on how to proceed Overwatch 2 will change its release pipeline. This includes addressing one of the biggest complaints surrounding the hero shooter sequel: the new heroes will now be available to all players for free, without having to purchase a battle pass for each season, like in the first game.

This will give players access to Mythic skins from previous seasons, even if they missed them in the Battle Pass. Keller said the team will have more information on “how it works,” but from the images shown during the demo, it looks like it might not be as simple as paying to unlock the skin and its full customization options . Each skin has a “level” that can be unlocked in some way. We’ll know more as we get closer to the end of the season on April 16th.
