Pornhub has left Texas Like a man rushing back to work after delivering pizza to a lonely housewife. The Lone Star State appears to be pushing for a quick exit from two of the more popular porn sites.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sues Xhamster and Chaturbate due to violation state age verification lawsaccording to a Press release Thursday. Paxton said he is seeking an injunction against the sites and if the companies don’t comply with state law, they could be fined “up to $10,000 per day if the company unlawfully retains identifying information, and an additional $10,000 per day if the company unlawfully retains identifying information.” Any illegal retention of identifying information carries an additional fine of $250,000 per day.” Children are exposed to pornographic content due to a failure to properly verify the user’s age. “
Multi Media LLC (the parent company of Chaturbate) and Hammy Media (the overlord of Xhamster) did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Aylo, the parent company of Pornhub and its sister sites, pulled out of Texas last week, leaving horny Texans with fewer sites to find their favorite porn.Those trying to access the Aylo site in the Lone Star State will see information The company explained that age verification laws are “ineffective, arbitrary and dangerous”.
Texas is one of nine states that has passed similar laws targeting porn sites. Montana, North Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi, Utah, Louisiana, Virginia and Indiana all have laws that have caused porn companies to leave some states.
Not surprisingly, demand for VPNs surged after Pornhub left Texas. Searches for Texas VPNs surged after the porn giant was banned, with Express VPN saying it saw a 48% increase in traffic to its website from Texas residents in the week after the withdrawal.
