Samsung’s Galaxy A models are among the best-selling phones in the world, but the “5” generation is off to a rocky start – voters who voted last week mainly blamed Samsung on upgrades and price.
That’s certainly the case with the Samsung Galaxy A55, with a quarter of voters claiming the phone is too expensive. Some reviewers said they’d rather buy the Galaxy S23 FE, which costs about the same. Samsung agrees, and in fact, in the US and Canada, you can’t even make a choice because the A55 isn’t available.
The A55 does bring some important upgrades – next-gen chipset, better build (aluminum frame and glass back), but there’s also a lot of power in the mid-range. Another quarter of voters don’t want the A55 because they would rather choose one of the alternatives.
There’s still hope, and if the Galaxy A55 impresses in reviews, it’ll become a lot easier to recommend it. And you can always wait a few months and feel like its predecessor, the A54, has been part of promotions and discounts.
Moving to the Samsung Galaxy A35, price is no longer an issue, but the phone itself may be. Why buy an A35 if you can get the older A54 for cheap? They’re very similar, right down to the Exynos 1380 chipset and plastic chassis.
Unlike its siblings, the Galaxy A35 will be widely available, but it’s clearly the less popular model of the two, as it has fairly few upgrades compared to the previous generation.
We have the Samsung Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 in the office and are already reviewing them in detail – coming soon! Now, you can take a look at the A35 battery test, where it beats the A25 and A54, even though all three have the same 5,000mAh battery.
