First-person shooter fans are rejoicing, Fortnite is finally adding the highly anticipated mode later this year

fortniteThe battle royale shooter, which has been third-person-only since its inception, is set to launch in first-person later this year.

While most of the most popular shooters, such as Call of Duty or Apex Legends, use a first-person perspective, Fortnite has always opted for a third-person perspective. This is certainly partly because Epic probably wants you to see all the skins you’ve earned or paid real money for, but that hasn’t stopped some people from wanting a first-person mode. Well, if you’re one of those people, you’ll be happy to hear that the popular shooter will be adding a first-person perspective to the game, although it’s unclear how it will be presented.

Epic Games held a presentation titled “State of Unreal” at GDC 2024 earlier this week, showcasing a series of changes coming to Unreal Engine. As you can see in the video above, around an hour and six minutes later, Epic has given its first look at what first-person will look like in the game, and yes, it does look like first-person Fortnite! What hasn’t been confirmed, though, is whether first-person will be available in any of the main modes, or if it will be limited to the game’s Unreal Editor.

First-person view is a long-requested feature in Fortnite, so regardless of how it’s introduced, it’s sure to please many players. However, there are many other features to be added to Fortnite in the future, as Fortnite’s Unreal Editor will also give you the ability to customize close-up chat, make your own LEGO mini-games, in-game tracking, and rocket racing Options like a track editor, and even more. As always, now seems like a great time to be a Fortnite fan.

It’s unclear when Fortnite will add first-person functionality, but it’s expected to launch in 2024.
