It sounds like the fourth generation of the MCU is getting some action spiderman Disney seems to be eyeing the Fast and Furious director.
It’s been over two years since Spider-Man: No Way Home hit theaters, and we haven’t seen much of the friendly neighborhood superhero since then, but it sounds like the sequel is finally making some progress. According to industry insider Jeff Sneider, whose latest release, Spider-Man (paywall), Disney is currently looking to direct Justin Lin to direct the Marvel Cinematic Universe ( MCU’s next Spider-Man movie, and Jon Watts, the director of the first three films, is apparently not returning. Lam is known for directing several installments of the Fast and Furious franchise, such as Tokyo Drift, Furious Five and F9, as well as 2016’s Star Trek Beyond.

Cabin in the Woods director Drew Goddard Rumored to replace Watts earlier this year, but if that’s the case, it sounds like Disney has already tapped Lin to helm its next installment. Snyder’s report also claims that Zendaya will return to the Spider-Man 4 movie this summer, which is apparently the reason for the recent delay of Euphoria‘s third season. As expected, Tom Holland is also expected to return, but not much is currently known about the potential project.
Many Spider-Man fans in the MCU will obviously be wondering how things will resume, as No Way Home left Peter Parker almost completely alone, with none of his friends remembering him, and with all of his family dead. It’s not the most enviable situation for a superhero, but it’s a typically tragic one.
It looks like the Marvel Universe is going to have a pretty quiet year at the moment, as there’s only one new movie coming out this year, Deadpool vs. Wolverine , which just received its first trailer last month.
