How to screen record on iPhone

Sometimes a simple screenshot isn’t enough.

Recording a video is best when you want to show off a new app feature you’re trying out or need to share a long conversation with a trusted group of friends. If you have an iPhone, you can complete screen recording in just a few simple steps. That’s it.

Step 1: Add screen recording to Control Center

Go to Settings > Control Center and tap the plus sign to add the screen recording tool. This allows you to prepare for the next step and start recording easily.

Step 2: Open Control Center

On newer iPhone models, swipe down from the top right corner to open Control Center. On iPhone models with a Home screen, open Control Center by swiping up from the bottom.

Step Three: Set a Record

Click the screen recording button, which is a circle icon with a recording symbol. After you do this, you will receive a three-second countdown. You’ll know your iPhone is recording when a red dot appears at the top of the screen.

The iPhone Control Center shows that the record button is on and a countdown until recording begins.

Step 4: Make a video

Now that your iPhone is recording, navigate to what you want to record. Anything you do on the device is captured, so basically your iPhone records what you see. To stop recording, tap the red dot at the top of the screen, then tap the “Stop” button to end the video.

Step 5: Find and edit your recordings

Once you hit “Stop,” your recording will automatically be saved to your Photos app. From here you can edit it like any other video, such as cutting, cropping, or adding filters.
