The latest Android 15 developer preview contains some hints about the audio sharing feature, which will allow you to listen to the same audio on different compatible Bluetooth headsets.
According to 9to5Google, Android 15 DP2 mentions hidden in Connect devices part of settings app. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen hints of this feature; it briefly appeared in Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3 last month, and now it looks like it’s starting to be integrated.
This new feature in Android 15 will make it easy for others to listen to your media using their own compatible headphones without having to pair them with your phone first. Plus, there’s a handy “Play test sound” option to ensure all connected Bluetooth devices are synced and ready to go.
There’s also a visible “Stream Settings” text below, but nothing is currently showing.
at present, share audio This feature does not work in the latest Android 15 developer preview. But it should be up and running in a future beta. But keep in mind that it may only work with Auracast-enabled wireless headphones.
Auracast allows one device (such as your phone or computer) to send audio to a set of headphones and speakers simultaneously. This Bluetooth technology has huge potential, from making group listening sessions easier to helping people with hearing problems.
The great thing about Bluetooth Auracast is that it doesn’t require the usual pairing setup. This means you can have numerous streams happening simultaneously on multiple devices without any issues. In theory, you can connect any number of devices, which makes it ideal for waiting rooms, gyms, bars, airports, and other places like public broadcasting.
Bluetooth Auracast has been around for a while, but only a few products have it built into it. But that could change if it gets a huge boost with more integration with Android 15.
