The $36 camera has a big jump in specs over the v3: It can now shoot 2.5K (2560 x 1440) images, which Wyze sometimes calls HDR and sometimes calls “wide dynamic range,” while The previous resolution was 1080p. It features onboard AI processing for faster notifications and basic AI person detection, without relying on the camera to send images to the cloud. It can also use local AI person detection to automatically zoom in and track people, and add motion-activated spotlights and motion-activated voice warnings.
While many of these features also come with 2022’s $49.99 Wyze Cam v3 Pro, which has mostly become more affordable, the v3 Pro doesn’t have Wi-Fi 6. Here, you get “an extra 20 meters of range, better handling of congestion, and higher connection speeds.”

Wyze also says its audio is “louder and clearer,” and its microphones can pick up sounds from farther away.
Christensen didn’t answer a question about whether the Wyze Cam v4 can be used entirely without Wyze’s worrisome cloud, but he confirmed that, like previous Wyze Cams, it has the option to record continuously to a microSD card without a subscription. v4 now supports cards up to 512GB, up from 256GB previously.
