The success of the Galaxy A54 has set a high bar for the just-released Galaxy A55. After the Samsung Galaxy S and Z foldable series, the Galaxy A5x series is probably the most popular product in the company’s portfolio, and for good reason.

This year’s model makes progress in key areas. The new A55 has a larger display, a more powerful chipset, more RAM in the base configuration, and a sturdier, better build.

Most other aspects of the Galaxy A54’s success remain intact – microSD card support, a good main camera with a decent ultra-wide-angle shooter, solid battery life and an IP67-rated build. And, this time around, it features an aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection.

But will it be enough to convince potential buyers? After all, competition is fierce in Europe under €500, and the same goes for the around Rs 40,000 range in India. Just because the A54 is good in 2023, doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be good enough in 2024. The competition is catching up, and we’ve already seen some pretty solid mid-range products emerge in the first quarter of this year, so stay tuned to see if that happens. The A55 is worth your hard-earned money.
